The Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Charleston, Balboa, Collegiate Shag, & Blues Dance Mailing List of Swing Buffalo (for Buffalo and the surrounding area)...

Charleston Line! was a huge success this past Monday!  We had a record turn-out.  Shakti was filled to capacity and everyone learned a ton of solo charleston moves, including a new combo move called the squirrel-tail.  Tomorrow night, Arlette and I are teaching a one-time class at Temple Beth Zion Church, but I believe it's only for members of the congregation.  However eight O'Clock Jump is tomorrow night as well, so don't miss it!  Then catch the classes at UB's Student Union on Sunday, Lindy Fix on Monday, and the UB Swing Practice on Wednesday.

Beginner Jitterbug Lesson 8-8:30

This is the one and only lindy event in Buffalo and it's located just off Buffalo's famous Elmwood strip.  Buffalo is finally on its way to establishing a lindy scene.  For those of you who don't know, Lindy Hop is a form of swing dancing that came about in the late 20s and early 30s.  It went through a resurgence in the mid to late 90s and is going strong across the US and dozens of other coutries.  Swing dances featuring lindy are a very social event.  Everyone dances with everyone, though it's not typicslly a dating venue.  Swing is a lifestyle based on the pure joy of dance: focussed on fun.  So bring your spirits and prepare to smile!  Beginners are not only wanted, they are required!  We need you to make this happen!

DJ'd swing music will feature Big Band, classic swing like the Rat Pack & Ella, Blues, & other popular contemporary swing music.

Lesson taught by Rob & Kate.
