The Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Charleston, Balboa, Collegiate Shag, & Blues

Dance Mailing List of Swing Buffalo (for Buffalo and the surrounding

area)...

The Steven & Virginie workshop starts tomorrow in Rochester!  Steven &

Virginie are two of the best lindy hoppers around.  They are visiting

from California to teach this workshop, so don't miss this great

opportunity.  Classes go all day tomorrow and Sunday and dances with

live bands start tonight.  Sunday classes at UB are cancelled due to

the workshop.  If you don't travel to S&V, check out 8 O'clock Jump

tomorrow night.  Lindy Fix is going strong on Mondays.  The first

Balboa Study Group meeting is on Tuesday and the UB dance weekly dance

is on Wednesday.  Lots to do every week this season.  Get out and

dance!  It's a lot more fun that watching TV!

Beginner Jitterbug Lesson 8-8:30

This is the one and only lindy event in Buffalo and it's located just

off Buffalo's famous Elmwood strip.  Buffalo is finally on its way to

establishing a lindy scene.  For those of you who don't know, Lindy

Hop is a form of swing dancing that came about in the late 20s and

early 30s.  It went through a resurgence in the mid to late 90s and is

going strong across the US and dozens of other coutries.  Swing dances

featuring lindy are a very social event.  Everyone dances with

everyone, though it's not typicslly a dating venue.  Swing is a

lifestyle based on the pure joy of dance: focussed on fun.  So bring

your spirits and prepare to smile!  Beginners are not only wanted,

they are required!  We need you to make this happen!

DJ'd swing music will feature Big Band, classic swing like the Rat

Pack & Ella, Blues, & other popular contemporary swing music.

Lesson taught by Rob & Kate.
