The Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Charleston, Balboa, Collegiate Shag, & Blues Dance Mailing List of Swing Buffalo (for Buffalo and the surrounding area)...
Happy Thanksgiving! Once all that Tryptophan works its way out of your system, get ready to dance! We're gonna be all rested up by the time Monday rolls around and ready to get jiggy on the dance floor at Lindy Fix! This Friday is the 1 year anniversary of SwingBuffalo.com. Come celebrate with us at the VFW Post 416. There will be a beginner Lindy Hop lesson given by our new resident instructors: Venus & Mark! This is your first chance to take a class from them! They're really good, so come check it out. Note, due to a conflict I forgot about, the Balboa Study Group will be held Wednesday December 10th instead of the 9th as noted in the last email.
Sorry this email is late. GMail's pop interface has new "features" that interfere with sending some emails. It's a real pain.

Lindy Fix (DJ: Sam)
Shakti Yoga, 220 Lexington Ave., Buffalo
8:00 - 10:00 Monday December 1st 2008
$4
Beginner Jitterbug Lesson 8-8:30
This is the one and only lindy event in Buffalo and it's located just off Buffalo's famous Elmwood strip. Buffalo is finally on its way to establishing a lindy scene. For those of you who don't know, Lindy Hop is a form of swing dancing that came about in the late 20s and early 30s. It went through a resurgence in the mid to late 90s and is going strong across the US and dozens of other coutries. Swing dances featuring lindy are a very social event. Everyone dances with everyone, though it's not typicslly a dating venue. Swing is a lifestyle based on the pure joy of dance: focussed on fun. So bring your spirits and prepare to smile! Beginners are not only wanted, they are required! We need you to make this happen!
DJ'd swing music will feature Big Band, classic swing like the Rat Pack & Ella, Blues, & other popular contemporary swing music.
Lesson taught by Rob & Kate.
