The Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Charleston, Balboa, Collegiate Shag, & Blues Dance Mailing List of Swing Buffalo (for Buffalo and the surrounding area)...
Lindy-Hoppy Holidays to everyone! ;-) We had our SwingBuffalo.com Organizational meeting last Saturday and have we got some big plans in store for you! SwingBuffalo.com is expanding it's scope and will be bringing you even more big events in 2009! The Anniversary Dance last Friday was a huge success! Thanks to everyone who attended. It was definitely a blast! Let me know if you'd like to order a commemorative T-Shirt and I will relay the request to our shirt people.
Note that the UB Wednesday dance is on hold during the break and 8 O'Clock Jump is retiring from service. However, there is the new Thursday Night Swing-Out hosted by Nick Compise which will be going during the break and beyond. Lindy Fix is always every Monday, even over the holidays. If you ever wonder whether we will be having Lindy Fix due to some holiday or other event: the answer is yes, we will. Lindy Fix runs all 52 weeks a year. There are new class sessions coming up toward the end of January. Classes open to everyone will start at the Student Union on UB's North campus in the Flag room from 12:30 to 4:30. Scheduling details are forthcoming, but classes will include: Jitterbug (/ECS), Lindy Hop, Charleston, & Balboa with 4 pairs of teachers (Venus & Mark, Rob & *Zoë, Sam & Sylbie, and Nate & Kate)! Students: $2, non-students: $13 (or $10 bulk-rate if paying up-front). Venus & Mark and Rob & Arlette will also be setting up some community classes off-campus covering different material. All class sessions are planned to launch between January 17th & February 1st. Watch this list for details!

Beginner Jitterbug Lesson 8-8:30
This is the one and only lindy event in Buffalo and it's located just off Buffalo's famous Elmwood strip. Buffalo is finally on its way to establishing a lindy scene. For those of you who don't know, Lindy Hop is a form of swing dancing that came about in the late 20s and early 30s. It went through a resurgence in the mid to late 90s and is going strong across the US and dozens of other coutries. Swing dances featuring lindy are a very social event. Everyone dances with everyone, though it's not typicslly a dating venue. Swing is a lifestyle based on the pure joy of dance: focussed on fun. So bring your spirits and prepare to smile! Beginners are not only wanted, they are required! We need you to make this happen!
DJ'd swing music will feature Big Band, classic swing like the Rat Pack & Ella, Blues, & other popular contemporary swing music.
