4 Dances this week: Today, Saturday, Sunday, & Monday - 3 of which have live music! Take your pick or go to them all!!! I'll be at the dance tonight to entertain our retirees. I've got some plans brewing for a summer class session, though I haven't decided what classes to teach. Let me know if you have any requests (options are: repeat of basic swing, intro to lindy, intro to balboa, more advanced versions of those classes, a musicality class, or a performance class). ALSO: COMING UP!: Shim Sham! Arlette and I will be teaching the Shim Sham to celebrate Memorial Day Monday at Lindy Fix May 26th. For those of you who don't know, the shim sham is a vintage jazz routine made swing-style by Frankie Manning. It's not totally inaccurate to call it a "Swing Line Dance", but everyone is encouraged to "make it their own" and add their own flair. Swing line dances are becoming more and more popular. There are many variants of the shim sham (the only one that's coming to mind is Dean Collins' Shim Sham), Big Apple, and a new one on the scene: Tranky Do.

Beginner Jitterbug Lesson 8-8:30
This is the one and only lindy event in Buffalo and it's located just off Buffalo's famous Elmwood strip. Buffalo is finally on its way to establishing a lindy scene. For those of you who don't know, Lindy Hop is a form of swing dancing that came about in the late 20s and early 30s. It went through a resurgence in the mid to late 90s and is going strong across the US and dozens of other coutries. Swing dances featuring lindy are a very social event. Everyone dances with everyone, though it's not typicslly a dating venue. Swing is a lifestyle based on the pure joy of dance: focussed on fun. So bring your spirits and prepare to smile! Beginners are not only wanted, they are required! We need you to make this happen!
DJ'd swing music will feature Big Band, classic swing like the Rat Pack & Ella, Blues, & other popular contemporary swing music.
Lesson taught by Sam & Arlette.
