The
Dryden Theater will be celebrating what would have been Cab
Calloway's
100th birthday on December 21 (actual birthday was Dec. 25),
with
a screening of 1944 musical, \"Stormy Weather.\" The movie
includes
4 Calloway numbers, plus appearances by such musicians as Lena
Horne,
Fats Waller, and others. The Dryden will also show cartoons
(?!),
short films, and other film footage of Calloway's career.
Cab
Calloway was born in Rochester, and is honored by a plaque in the
neighborhood
park near South Clinton Ave and Sycamore St.
