NOTICE FOR THOSE TAKING CLASSES==============
*NO
BASIC SWING CLASS* on Friday and *NO INTERMEDIATE SWING CLASS* on
Saturday
this week. This is a scheduled
pause in classes because I
plan
to be up in Toronto swingin' with Steven & Virginie at their Lindy
Workshop. I'll be calling the students who have
registered to make
sure,
but for all of you who planned to drop in this week, wait 'til
next
week. Classes will resume February
29th. There are 4 classes
left
in Basic Swing and 5 left in Intermediate Swing, so don't worry -
you'll
be getting all the swing you can handle.
Note, Sam's Beginner
Swing
class is still on this Saturday (as far as I know).
Man,
that was one swingin' weekend! I
don't know about you, but I'm
literally
sore from dancing and I dropped 4 pounds since Thursday!
This
week's gonna be awesome too! We've
got two dances TODAY (and you
can
go to both due to minimal overlap!), a beginner class this weekend,

Lindy Fix to help shed your Monday blues and brighten the rest of
your

is the one and only lindy event in Buffalo and it's located just
off
Buffalo's famous Elmwood strip.
Buffalo is finally on its way to
establishing
a lindy scene. For those of you
who don't know, Lindy Hop
is a
form of swing dancing that came about in the late 20s and early
30s. It went through a resurgence in the mid
to late 90s and is going
strong
across the US and dozens of other coutries. Swing dances
featuring
lindy are a very social event.
Everyone dances with
everyone,
though it's not typicslly a dating venue.
Swing is a
lifestyle
based on the pure joy of dance: focussed on fun. So bring
your
spirits and prepare to smile!
Beginners are not only wanted, they
are
required! We need you to make this
happen!
DJ'd
swing music will feature Big Band, classic swing like the Rat Pack
&
Ella, Blues, & other popular contemporary swing music.
Lesson
taught by Rob & Arlette. Rob
is a lindy hop & balboa instructor
&
performer from Santa Fe, NM, where he performed with Moving People
Dance
Theatre and New Mexico Swing Fix.
Rob travels to many national
level
workshops and has been honing his skills since 1998. Arlette is
a
broadly skilled & experienced lindy & balboa instructor. She
performs
a variety of dance styles and travels to many national level
workshops.

is Whitey's Lindy Hoppers' version of the classic called

Staffeld will be in town next week to teach some swing dance
workshops.
She is a swing dance champ & instructor who has taught all
over
the world. Ramona grew up in Ithaca, and was a member of the
renowned
Minnie's Moochers dance troupe that put Ithaca on the Lindy
Hop
map.
We're
very fortunate to have her for this all-levels workshop. Even if
you
only know the Lindy Hop basics (circle, swing out, Charleston), you
should
definitely consider this opportunity to learn from a dance guru.
