The Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Charleston, Balboa, Collegiate Shag, & Blues

Dance Mailing List of Swing Buffalo (for Buffalo and the surrounding

area)...

Lindy Fix is less than a week away!  Woo-hoo!  I'm excited to see how

it goes!  I just hope Shakti will be big enough.  Check out the article

about it on buffalorising.com.  It's linked on the Lindy Fix page on

swingbuffalo.com.  By the way, be sure to bring non-street shoes.  The

owner doesn't allow street shoes on her floor.  I don't have any news

yet on classes coming up this semester, but we'll get something going

and let you know soon.

This is the one and only lindy event in Buffalo and it's located just

off Buffalo's famous Elmwood strip.  Buffalo is finally on its way to

establishing a lindy scene.  For those of you who don't know, Lindy Hop

is a form of swing dancing that came about in the late 20s and early

30s.  It went through a resurgence in the mid to late 90s and is going

strong across the US and dozens of other coutries.  Swing dances

featuring lindy are a very social event.  Everyone dances with

everyone, though it's not typicslly a dating venue.  Swing is a

lifestyle based on the pure joy of dance: focussed on fun.  So bring

your spirits and prepare to smile!  Beginners are not only wanted, they

are required!  We need you to make this happen!

DJ'd swing music will feature Big Band, classic swing like the Rat Pack

& Ella, Blues, & other popular contemporary swing music.

Lesson taught by Rob & Arlette.  Rob is a lindy hop & balboa instructor

& performer from Santa Fe, NM, where he performed with Moving People

Dance Theatre and New Mexico Swing Fix.  Rob travels to many national

level workshops and has been honing his skills since 1998.  Arlette is

a broadly skilled & experienced lindy & balboa instructor.  She

performs a variety of dance styles and travels to many national level

workshops.
