Deco Fest was a blast! We have lots of new members on the email list as a result and two raffle winners coming to Rhythm Shuffle this year. Your next chance to win first timer free passes to Rhythm Shuffle will be at the Elmwood Art Festival under the dance tent in August. Watch this email list for details. We've got old and new dancers coming out of the woodwork at Lindy Fix this summer, so be there this Tuesday. Now that Nate and Kate have finished their Lindy Hop series before Lindy Fix, the next two weeks will be available for private lessons from 6:45-7:45 on Tuesdays. Contact the instructor of your choice to schedule a private lesson or respond to this email. We have Buffalo Hop Posters to put up! If you know a good spot to put one, be sure to get one from us at Lindy Fix. We also need dancers to help us dance and flyer for Rhythm Shuffle at the Taste of Buffalo next Sunday (July 10th). This is the one and only lindy event in Buffalo and it's located on the up-and-coming Grant Street area. Buffalo is finally on its way to establishing a lindy scene. For those of you who don't know, Lindy Hop is a form of swing dancing that came about in the late 20s and early 30s. It went through a resurgence in the mid to late 90s and is going strong across the US and dozens of other countries. Swing dances featuring lindy are a very social event. Everyone dances with everyone, though it's not typically a dating venue. Swing is a lifestyle based on the pure joy of dance: focussed on fun. So bring your spirits and prepare to smile! Beginners are not only wanted, they are required! We need you to make this happen!
DJ'd swing music will feature Big Band, classic swing like the Rat Pack & Ella, Blues, & other popular contemporary swing music.
