The Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Charleston, Balboa, Collegiate Shag, & Blues Dance Mailing List of Swing Buffalo (for Buffalo and the surrounding area)...

Buffalo Hop last Saturday was a great success!  It had a great turn-out and after rental, we were able to make a $50 donation to Grassroots Gardens of Buffalo!  The dress rehearsal performance went very well as well.  Next month, we have a special guest DJ from Rochester, so don't miss it!  We held the second of both the Intro to Lindy Hop and Intro to Balboa classes last night and they went great.  If you intend to drop in from here on out, make sure you know your basics because we won't have time to review everything from the previous two classes which we will be building upon in the remainder of the session.  Lindy Fix, as always, will be on the Monday following the July 4th weekend.  We had our best turn-out since Lindy Fix first started this past Monday.  I think a lot of people who discovered us via Buffalo Hop are now going to become regulars!  So don't miss your chance to dance with the growing scene!

Beginner Jitterbug Lesson 8-8:30

This is the one and only lindy event in Buffalo and it's located just off Buffalo's famous Elmwood strip.  Buffalo is finally on its way to establishing a lindy scene.  For those of you who don't know, Lindy Hop is a form of swing dancing that came about in the late 20s and early 30s.  It went through a resurgence in the mid to late 90s and is going strong across the US and dozens of other coutries.  Swing dances featuring lindy are a very social event.  Everyone dances with everyone, though it's not typicslly a dating venue.  Swing is a lifestyle based on the pure joy of dance: focussed on fun.  So bring your spirits and prepare to smile!  Beginners are not only wanted, they are required!  We need you to make this happen!

DJ'd swing music will feature Big Band, classic swing like the Rat Pack & Ella, Blues, & other popular contemporary swing music.

Lesson taught by Rob & Arlette.  Rob is a lindy hop & balboa instructor & performer from Santa Fe, NM, where he performed with Moving People Dance Theatre and New Mexico Swing Fix.  Rob travels to many national level workshops and has been honing his skills since 1998.  Arlette is a broadly skilled & experienced lindy & balboa instructor.  She performs a variety of dance styles and travels to many national level workshops.
