The Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Charleston, Balboa, Collegiate Shag, & Blues Dance Mailing List of Swing Buffalo (for Buffalo and the surrounding area)...

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Next Tuesday is your last chance to join SwingBuffalo.com's new dance troupe "Buffalo Bounce" to perform at UB on the Green July 22nd.  WE NEED TWO MORE LEADS!!!  No experience necessary.  Come on, it'll be fun, I promise.  Check out details on the website.  Respond to this email if you're interested and I will send you the details about the rehearsal on Tuesday.

*Phew*  Lots going on!  Sam's second Thursday Night Swing class is tonight.  This is your last chance to join the class.  They had a turn out of over 20 people last week, so go see what it's all about.  There will be a live big band dance this weekend.  I met the band leader last Saturday and their website looks great.  I haven't heard them yet, so check it out while I'm in Cleveland so I can hear all about it when I get back!  Lindy Fix on Monday will have Nick as a guest instructor with Arlette.  He and Alaina will be performing a demo routine as well.  Arlette will be spinning the tunes.  The last Mary Seaton Room Dance will be this next Wednesday.  Don't miss this great dance!  Note, the Hamlin House dance was moved to the fourth Sunday this month.  Then a week from Wednesday, we start up our next session of Intro to Lindy Hop and Intro to Balboa.  If you missed the spring session, now's you're chance!

Beginner Jitterbug Lesson 8-8:30

This is the one and only lindy event in Buffalo and it's located just off Buffalo's famous Elmwood strip.  Buffalo is finally on its way to establishing a lindy scene.  For those of you who don't know, Lindy Hop is a form of swing dancing that came about in the late 20s and early 30s.  It went through a resurgence in the mid to late 90s and is going strong across the US and dozens of other coutries.  Swing dances featuring lindy are a very social event.  Everyone dances with everyone, though it's not typicslly a dating venue.  Swing is a lifestyle based on the pure joy of dance: focussed on fun.  So bring your spirits and prepare to smile!  Beginners are not only wanted, they are required!  We need you to make this happen!

DJ'd swing music will feature Big Band, classic swing like the Rat Pack & Ella, Blues, & other popular contemporary swing music.

Lesson taught by Nick & Arlette.  Nick will be performing a demo routine with his performance partner Alaina.

"Dancers are a strange breed, dontchu know that?  We dance all day long, move 'round dancers, in our spare time go see other dancers and for fun we go dancin'.  There's no way to make us less intense, unless we fall in love..." -Antozake Shange
