This weekend, we are having a big event: SwingBuffalo's first hosted "Speakeasy", featuring costume & password contests with prizes (Event T-Shirts and a blanket courtesy of Embroidery Designs), 2 beginner lessons (one in authentic 1920's Charleston and one jitterbug lesson), and a cash bar! Come experience the prohibition era with SwingBuffalo as we kick up our heels at our first summer dance! SwingBuffalo.com is also holding a very important organizational meeting on Sunday. The meeting will be focussed on our upcoming workshop in September. Lindy Fix welcomes Nick Compise as he joins the DJ rotation on Monday. Swing Schoolhouse is getting a good following. Beginner Jitterbug Lesson 8-8:30

This is the one and only lindy event in Buffalo and it's located just off Buffalo's famous Elmwood strip. Buffalo is finally on its way to establishing a lindy scene. For those of you who don't know, Lindy Hop is a form of swing dancing that came about in the late 20s and early 30s. It went through a resurgence in the mid to late 90s and is going strong across the US and dozens of other coutries. Swing dances featuring lindy are a very social event. Everyone dances with everyone, though it's not typicslly a dating venue. Swing is a lifestyle based on the pure joy of dance: focussed on fun. So bring your spirits and prepare to smile! Beginners are not only wanted, they are required! We need you to make this happen!

DJ'd swing music will feature Big Band, classic swing like the Rat Pack & Ella, Blues, & other popular contemporary swing music.
