Lindy Hop activities and opportunities abound this summer. We're growing and it's so much fun! I have to say that I love this lindy hop scene in Buffalo better than I loved it in New Mexico despite the relative small size and the fact that this scene is still growing in skill. I've been working my heart out to establish our presence in Buffalo and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Some of our dancers are starting to explore workshops in other parts of the country and I know they've been bitten by the bug. I know they're gonna be as addicted as me if they aren't already! OK. Down to business... This Saturday is the Summit Mall Dance/Demo. We need a strong showing so we can break into the untapped Niagara Falls population. The website now has details about the new summer dance series: "Buffalo Hop" on the last Saturdays. We've acquired a slot at UB on the Green to perform and teach the masses (don't forget to volunteer to perform)! Our new summer session starts June 25th. And there's more to come and lots more work to do - more than I've been able to put together! I probably have more unfinished schemes than finished ones at the moment.

Beginner Jitterbug Lesson 8-8:30

This is the one and only lindy event in Buffalo and it's located just off Buffalo's famous Elmwood strip. Buffalo is finally on its way to establishing a lindy scene. For those of you who don't know, Lindy Hop is a form of swing dancing that came about in the late 20s and early 30s. It went through a resurgence in the mid to late 90s and is going strong across the US and dozens of other coutries. Swing dances featuring lindy are a very social event. Everyone dances with everyone, though it's not typicslly a dating venue. Swing is a lifestyle based on the pure joy of dance: focussed on fun. So bring your spirits and prepare to smile! Beginners are not only wanted, they are required! We need you to make this happen!

DJ'd swing music will feature Big Band, classic swing like the Rat Pack & Ella, Blues, & other popular contemporary swing music.

Lesson taught by Rob & Arlette. Rob is a lindy hop & balboa instructor & performer from Santa Fe, NM, where he performed with Moving People Dance Theatre and New Mexico Swing Fix. Rob travels to many national level workshops and has been honing his skills since 1998. Arlette is a broadly skilled & experienced lindy & balboa instructor. She performs a variety of dance styles and travels to many national level workshops.
