The Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Charleston, Balboa, Collegiate Shag, & Blues Dance Mailing List of Swing Buffalo (for Buffalo and the surrounding area)...

The Buffalo Wellfest Demo was a blast!  Thank you to our dancers: Kate, Kim, Nikki, Rob, Sam, & Zo‘.  You guys did a great job, so good in fact, they wanted us to reprise the demo at 2:20, but unfortunately, half of us had to work.  A special thanks to Zo‘ who provided wonderful artwork for our sign and to Nikki for handling the email sign-ups.  It was a team effort!

We're into the fourth week of classes this Saturday and I've been busy trying to find a place to teach over the summer.  If anyone knows of any studios available Tuesday or Wednesday evenings, please let me know asap!  We've got a busy week this week: classes on Saturday, Hamlin house dance on Sunday, Lindy Fix on Monday, and the Mary Seaton Room Dance on Wednesday!  It should be a lot of fun!

There are a few updates on the website (the email list archive and playlists page have been updated and I'm going to try to upload a photo album or two tonight).  Check them out!

Beginner Jitterbug Lesson 8-8:30

This is the one and only lindy event in Buffalo and it's located just off Buffalo's famous Elmwood strip.  Buffalo is finally on its way to establishing a lindy scene.  For those of you who don't know, Lindy Hop is a form of swing dancing that came about in the late 20s and early 30s.  It went through a resurgence in the mid to late 90s and is going strong across the US and dozens of other coutries.  Swing dances featuring lindy are a very social event.  Everyone dances with everyone, though it's not typicslly a dating venue.  Swing is a lifestyle based on the pure joy of dance: focussed on fun.  So bring your spirits and prepare to smile!  Beginners are not only wanted, they are required!  We need you to make this happen!

DJ'd swing music will feature Big Band, classic swing like the Rat Pack & Ella, Blues, & other popular contemporary swing music.

Lesson taught by Rob & Arlette.  Rob is a lindy hop & balboa instructor & performer from Santa Fe, NM, where he performed with Moving People Dance Theatre and New Mexico Swing Fix.  Rob travels to many national level workshops and has been honing his skills since 1998.  Arlette is a broadly skilled & experienced lindy & balboa instructor.  She performs a variety of dance styles and travels to many national level workshops.

The group price will be $12.00 paid in advance by sending a check made out to Charlene Gore and mailed to me at 99 Amberwood Drive Amherst, New York or pay me when you see Al and me out dancing . I prefer that you put your money in an envelope, with the names of the people attending if you are giving me cash when you see me out and about. This way I can enjoy my dance evening and not be handling money and taking notes. I don’t want to leave anyone out. The FINAL date that I will accept reservations is MAY 19th.
