Beginner Jitterbug Lesson 8-8:30
This is the lindy event in Buffalo and it's located just off Buffalo's famous Elmwood strip. Buffalo is finally on its way to establishing a lindy scene. For those of you who don't know, Lindy Hop is a form of swing dancing that came about in the late 20s and early 30s. It went through a resurgence in the mid to late 90s and is going strong across the US and dozens of other coutries. Swing dances featuring lindy are a very social event. Everyone dances with everyone, though it's not typicslly a dating venue. Swing is a lifestyle based on the pure joy of dance: focussed on fun. So bring your spirits and prepare to smile! Beginners are not only wanted, they are required! We need you to make this happen!
DJ'd swing music will feature Big Band, classic swing like the Rat Pack & Ella, Blues, & other popular contemporary swing music.
Lesson taught by Rob & Kate.

Kleinhans Music Hall today announced dates for the 2009 Big Band Dances featuring the Jim Tudini Band. The Wednesday night events will take place January 14, February 11, March 11, April 22, May 13 and June 10.
The Jim Tudini Band is one of the most talked about bands in upstate New York. Tudini, in conjunction with various arrangers and musicians, has spent years developing a big band with a contemporary feel and featuring songs from the 70's, 80's and 90's along with traditional big band music.
"These are specially crafted evenings for dancers. We go through different genres such fox trot, waltz, meringue to simply having fun on the dance floor. In this situation, it's about making it fun for the dancers," said band leader and saxophonist Jim Tudini.
Dances start at 7:30 pm in the Mary Seaton Room at Kleinhans and continue with live music until 10:30 pm, but lessons by noted Buffalo dancer Corkey Ferro start at 6:30 pm for anyone with a ticket. Tickets are $18 or $15 for groups of 12 or more. Parking is free. Kleinhans Music Hall is located on Symphony Circle (intersection of North Street and Porter Avenue).
The series is made possible by PPS Pension and Financial Services and with the help of media sponsors WKBW-Channel 7 and the Buffalo News.

"Dancers are a strange breed, dontchu know that? We dance all day long, move 'round dancers, in our spare time go see other dancers and for fun we go dancin'. There's no way to make us less intense, unless we fall in love..." -Antozake Shange
