Shim Sham Jam on Memorial Day gave Lindy Fix a record turn-out! Now that so many of you know the steps (or can at least follow by watching others), we will be playing a shim sham song pretty regularly at Lindy Fix, so come solidify that muscle memory!

This is the last week of the intro to lindy & balboa classes and we're ready to start a new summer session. We will be repeating these classes (Intro to Lindy Hop and Intro to Balboa) starting either this or next Wednesday at the Quaker Bonnet Eatery on Elmwood. The schedule is tentative, but I believe at this point Lindy will start at 7pm and Balboa at 8:15. Space is limited, so please register by responding to this email. I'll have flyers and details up this weekend! These are fun, versatile, and rewarding dances, so come pick it up. You'll be getting oohs and ahhs from your peers on the dance floor in no time!

We still need leads to dance with us at the Summit Mall from 12-2 on Saturday June 7th! Come on, it'll be a lot of fun! Also, today is the last day to register for Stompology in Rochester which starts this weekend, a solo jazz & charleston workshop of national proportions! Plus, All Balboa Weekend in Cleveland is 2 weeks away! Come check out one of the biggest Balboa events in the world! I'll be competing there this year too.

Beginner Jitterbug Lesson 8-8:30

This is the one and only lindy event in Buffalo and it's located just off Buffalo's famous Elmwood strip. Buffalo is finally on its way to establishing a lindy scene. For those of you who don't know, Lindy Hop is a form of swing dancing that came about in the late 20s and early 30s. It went through a resurgence in the mid to late 90s and is going strong across the US and dozens of other coutries. Swing dances featuring lindy are a very social event. Everyone dances with everyone, though it's not typicslly a dating venue. Swing is a lifestyle based on the pure joy of dance: focussed on fun. So bring your spirits and prepare to smile! Beginners are not only wanted, they are required! We need you to make this happen!

DJ'd swing music will feature Big Band, classic swing like the Rat Pack & Ella, Blues, & other popular contemporary swing music.

Lesson taught by Rob & Arlette. Rob is a lindy hop & balboa instructor & performer from Santa Fe, NM, where he performed with Moving People Dance Theatre and New Mexico Swing Fix. Rob travels to many national level workshops and has been honing his skills since 1998. Arlette is a broadly skilled & experienced lindy & balboa instructor. She performs a variety of dance styles and travels to many national level workshops.
